Welcome to Reception

What's special about Reception?
Welcome to our Reception class, where every day is a new adventure in learning and discovery. We are excited to have you join our school family and can’t wait to see all the amazing things you/your child will do. Here, you/they will make new friends, explore through play, and grow in confidence every single day. Our classroom is a happy, safe, and caring place where everyone is special and valued. Together, we will learn, laugh, and shine brightly as we begin this wonderful journey.
How We Learn
In Reception, learning is playful, hands-on, and full of curiosity. Children explore through stories, songs, outdoor play, and creative activities that build early skills in language, maths, and problem-solving. We encourage independence, teamwork, and a love of learning by balancing structured activities with plenty of opportunities for child-led exploration. Every day is designed to spark imagination and help children grow in confidence, ready for the next stage of their school journey.
The Importance of Our Partnership
At this early stage of your child’s education, the partnership between home and school is especially important. When children see that their parents and teachers are working together, it helps them feel secure, confident, and motivated to learn. By sharing in your child’s experiences, celebrating their achievements, and supporting their learning at home, you play a vital role in building strong foundations for their future. Together, we can nurture their curiosity, independence, and love of learning.
Things to Look Forward to
Stay and Play sessions; you will be invited into school to learn and play alongside your child at various times throughout the year.
There will be opportunities for learning outside the classroom in the local community. We have visits from the local fire brigade, dental nurses, we litter pick and we go on our annual class trip to the Farm. Onsite swimming pool where children can access swimming lessons.
Whole school events include: our Harvest Festival, Christmas Nativity and Let Your Light Shine Summer festival. We also have... Christmas party, Easter Bingo, Summer Disco and Summer fair. Seasonal events.
Mrs Conroy
I am an experienced EYFS teacher who has worked in Reception for 14 years. I love being a part of such an important stage in children’s learning and development. Every day brings something new and it is so rewarding to see the children grow in confidence, curiosity and independence as they take their first steps in Education. I enjoy creating a nurturing and engaging environment where play and exploration spark a love of learning.
A little fact about myself: I am a Mum to two girls and as a hobby I like to run and have even ran a Marathon!
Mrs Morris
Hello, I'm Mrs Morris. I have worked in reception class for eight years. I really enjoy my job. It's always fun and every day is different from the last.
In my spare time I enjoy walking in the local countryside. I also love to garden and crochet.
Miss Smith
I have over 12 years' experience working in Early Years. I love teaching phonics as it is so rewarding when children learn to read and write independently. At home I enjoy reading, going for walks, and spending time with my family.

Mrs Chughtai
I have been working in KS1 for several Years and love working with Nursery and Reception children. It always amazes me how quickly the children grow and learn and being part of that environment is an absolute privilege. When I'm not doing this fantastic job I love to spend time with my own children and with friends and family socialising and having fun!
